Spider-Man: Miles Morales Game Review
Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a surprisingly fun superhero game. It’s a reworked port of the original Spider-Man that takes the protagonist Miles Morales and introduces him to the Marvel Comics universe.
Miles is a seventeen-year-old kid from New York. He’s struggling with the death of his father. He’s also figuring out who he wants to be as a hero. In the meantime, he’s dealing with the fact that he’s now a Spider-Man.
The game’s plot and characters are very likeable, although it’s a little pulpy in places. It’s also pretty easy to get lost, and the story can be a bit rushed.
While Miles is the main character, the supporting cast also has plenty to offer. His relationship with Phin is an interesting one. They’re both scientists, and their bond is based on shared identities.
The other main character, Aaron, is a mercenary known as the Prowler. They work for the mysterious leader of the Underground. The group is made up of gangbangers and disenfranchised youth.
There’s also Harry Osborn, Norman Osborn’s son. Osborn is the former mayor of New York. He orders Dr. Curt Connors to release Harry from stasis.
While the first few mechanics are simple, they require constant adaptation. The enemies also feel very similar to the original Spider-Man. They have weapons, and there’s even a venom attack. However, it’s possible to disable the venom and switch to the more traditional attack.
Miles’ combat abilities are rewarding. You can chain massive combos, and the web-slinging and swooping abilities allow you to fly from building to building. It’s easy to time your web-slings and swoops, and you can also use the subway system to reach different parts of the city.
