Spider Facts – Spiders Are Always Three Feet Away
There are thousands of spider species, but one rumored fact that may be a bit of an overstatement is that spiders are always three feet away. While this is an old adage, it is also true that spiders are everywhere, even in your home.
Depending on where you live, there is a good chance you’ll encounter a few, but you’re unlikely to walk into a swarm. That is, unless you’re living in the wild.
As for the rumored spider facts, there are more than 30 different species. Some species are more common than others. In any case, you are sure to find a spider or two in your home.
If you’re looking to get rid of spiders, your best bet is to capture them in jars. You can then relocate them to a more suitable home. A study of residential homes in North Carolina found that spiders occupied almost ninety percent of the bedrooms.
Arachnologists haven’t yet come up with an exact number for how close you’re likely to get to a spider, but science says it’s safe to assume that you’ll find them. For example, on a lawn, you can expect to find several small spiders within three centimeters of all sides of your shoes.
While the spider is the king of the bugs, it’s not the only way they benefit mankind. They control insect populations, and can even help you keep flies and mosquitoes out of your home.
