How Far Can Spiders Shoot Webs?

When building a web, the spider starts with a “superstrength” strand of silk. They then use their legs and body as a bridge to attach strands of silk to each other. This gives the spider a firm hold on the other end of the web. The silk isn’t sticky, but it is remarkably strong.
Another way spiders capture prey is with their jaws. They can snap prey in midair. They can also hang upside down and keep their web wide open to catch prey. They are very good at catching their prey.
There are many species of spiders that live in homes. These communities range in size from a few hundred to several thousand. Some are communal while others are solitary. Most are about a half-inch in length. Females outnumber males by up to five to one. This is usually the optimum size.
There are a few species that can create a web that is a couple of inches long. This is the spider’s smallest and most impressive feat.
