Do Spiders Kill Cockroaches?
Cockroaches have become one of the most common pests in the world. They can be found anywhere. Although their name suggests that they only eat dead matter, they also eat live plants and animals. The species can carry diseases. However, most spiders are harmless to humans.
There are hundreds of different spider species around the world. Each one eats and traps other insects. Spiders have venomous fangs, but they don’t attack humans.
Household spiders, however, are known to eat cockroaches. Some of the common types include the common house spider, the brown recluse spider, and the jumping spider. While these spiders do a great job of consuming roaches, they are not the most effective at controlling cockroach populations.
Another type of spider that can eat cockroaches is the black widow. This spider is most often found outdoors. It creates a silken web that is as strong as Kevlar. When a roach enters this web, it will be sucked up by the spider.
Orb woven spiders, on the other hand, use their sticky web to trap and kill insects. In addition, the spiders regurgitate their digestive enzymes onto their prey.
There are several other spiders that can eat roaches, but not every species does. Those that do are a good way to control a roach population.
Running spiders are also a type of spider that eats roaches. These spiders have a tan or beige abdomen and pale back legs. They are opportunistic and eat cockroaches as well as other insects.
