Can Spiders Live in Your Ear?
If you’ve ever had an insect or a spider in your ear, you’ve probably experienced some weird symptoms. You might have noticed a buzzing sound, or a wing moving around when you sleep. The symptoms can range from mild to severe. It’s important to go to your doctor to get a proper diagnosis.
A woman in China went to a doctor after she noticed an itchy sensation in her ear for four days. When she went to the doctor, she was told that she had a spider living in her ear canal. The doctor then put drops into her ear and flushed it out with warm water.
A similar story was recorded in Nova Scotia. A woman, named Ms. Lee, complained of an itchy ear. A friend of hers caught the moth and extricated it. But, it was a bit too quick to grasp the pincers. It burrowed further into the ear canal.
A man, called “Mikey,” was diagnosed with a moth and a tick in his ear. He was referred to an ear, nose, and throat specialist. He was later hospitalized for an ear infection.
Another case involved a girl, named Katie Holley, who was diagnosed with a roach in her ear. She went to a primary care physician and was referred to an ear, nose, or throat specialist. She was unable to catch the roach. During her visit, she felt it crawling inside her ear. Eventually, she rushed to the emergency room.
