Can Spiders Eat Fruit?
When it comes to a spider’s diet, there are many varieties. Some of them are carnivores while others are herbivores. They eat a variety of different insects, as well as seeds and plant parts. However, they aren’t really able to chew.
There are some species that are known to eat fruit. One of these is the black widow, which is native to California.
Other fruit-eating spiders live in the tropics. Although they can’t chew, they’re able to extract the juice from the fruit and use it for their own consumption.
Spiders are also known to be good recyclers. Rather than putting out feces and urine, they combine them into one pile.
There are also some spiders that have been spotted eating flies. Considering how large spiders can be, they are able to eat hundreds of small flies in a single day.
Some spiders also eat nectar. The Garden Spider will occasionally eat a flower or two. Alternatively, some spiders will eat ants. Ants aren’t a danger to humans, but they’re a staple of many spiders’ diets.
Some species of spiders even have a very impressive ability to suck the juice out of insects. While not every species of spider can do this, some do. Regardless of how much they’re able to do, it’s a good idea to make sure you never leave a fruit or vegetable out of the reach of these creatures.
Another nifty trick is to shoot fruit flies into a cage. You can do this by placing a potted soil over the bottom of the cage.
