In an article published in the journal Current Biology, scientists from the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine explored the effects of various light spectra on day-biting mosquitoes. Their findings suggest that a variety of light sources could be used to deter mosquitoes. The lights studied included UV rays from the sun, fluorescent bulbs, and LED light.

According to the research, UV rays are most effective against mosquitoes. Mosquitoes are more likely to follow the light because of its heat.
