Which States Have the Most Mosquitoes?

Mosquitoes are found in four quadrants of the United States. Some cities deal with them year-round, while others experience an increase in mosquito activity during the spring and summer months.

While mosquitoes are common in the United States, certain regions have more of them than others. In the northeast, for example, warm, wet conditions can lead to an increase in mosquito activity. In the midwest, lakes are known to house mosquitoes in large numbers. The southwest also sees a high number of mosquitoes.

In the southwest, mosquitoes typically appear in February until November. They’re most likely to be found near lakes and streams. However, they can be found in any type of stagnant water.

In the midwest, the season for mosquitoes begins in April and extends into November. If you’re in the area, you should take steps to reduce mosquito breeding sites. Taking steps to remove standing water is one way to do this.

In the northeast, mosquitoes are most common from mid-May to mid-June. This is also the season for mosquito-borne illnesses like West Nile virus.

The southwest is also home to a number of mosquito-borne illnesses. The LaCrosse virus, for example, affects children primarily. The virus can be transmitted from female mosquitoes to their offspring.
