How to Control Mosquitoes in Your House

Whether you’re a homeowner or a renter, you’ll want to know how to control mosquitoes in your home. You can prevent an infestation by cleaning up the water that they’re laying eggs in, or you can treat the larvae that are already there.

The first thing you’ll want to do is check the screens on your windows and doors. Often, mosquitoes are attracted to small openings where they can get inside your home. If you’re having trouble keeping them out, you may have to replace the screens.

Another place you’ll want to look is your yard. Many animals, including birds and reptiles, build nests. Keeping the grass and other foliage around your home well watered can make a great nesting place for these creatures.

You can also clean out bird baths and other containers that hold standing water. Mosquitoes are drawn to puddles and stagnant water.

You can also find mosquitoes in areas where there is pooled water from a pump, air conditioner or lawn sprinkler. It’s a good idea to regularly clean out flower pots and other items that have water in them. You can also use sticky traps in the soil of indoor plants. These traps work by attracting house mosquitoes to the traps with a UV fluorescent bulb.

In addition to preventing mosquitoes from entering your home, you’ll want to keep them out once you’re inside. To help with this, you can use natural repellents to help deter them from your house.
