How Big Are Mosquitoes in the UK?

During the spring and summer months in the UK, mosquitoes can be a real nuisance. They can carry parasites and diseases which are harmful to humans and animals. Many types of mosquitoes bite humans and leave itchy spots on their skin.

The Asian tiger mosquito is a mosquito that is invasive in Europe. It was first introduced into Europe in the 1970s through the transport of goods from China and Albania. It has since spread throughout Southern Europe. It can act as a vector for viruses such as the West Nile virus and Chikungunya.
