The most common type of bug repellent that you can take on a plane is a liquid pump spray. You can also use ointments or creams. They must be in the travel size range and meet other TSA regulations.

In addition, you can pack a limited amount of insect spray in hand luggage. But you can’t carry aerosol insecticides on a plane. You can only carry 3.4 oz or 100 ml of bug spray. You can also bring a small bottle of citronella in your carry on bag.

If you need to spray yourself, you can use a bug-repellent wipe. These don’t have the same flammable properties as a liquid insecticide. They are safer and take up less space. Using a bug-repellent wipe instead of a spray will ensure that you won’t get bitten on the airplane.

If you have to apply a liquid insecticide on yourself, you should do it in the lavatory. You should do so away from other people. You should also make sure that you cover your eyes before you begin.

When packing your insect repellent, you should put it in a quart-sized resealable bag. You can also use a personal bag for this purpose.
