Why Do Flies Want to Be Inside Your Home?
A good place to start in your quest to find out why do flies want to be inside your home is by inspecting the outside areas of your house. If you see debris or gaps in the walls, take action to eliminate the source of flies’ attraction. Also, purchase garbage bins that have a tight seal, and make sure to take out your trash more frequently.
One reason flies want to live inside your home is that they are attracted to light. Their compound eyes contain thousands of individual visual receptors. This allows them to get a 360-degree view of your room. Additionally, they are able to sense temperature by feeling warm air from your home’s HVAC system.
In addition to looking for food, flies are attracted to warm environments, which provide an ideal breeding ground for the insects. Temperatures of 75 degrees Fahrenheit or above are ideal for fly eggs to hatch. Cooler temperatures, however, may prevent the hatching of fly eggs.
Another factor that contributes to fly infestations is the presence of dead animals. A dead animal will attract female flies to lay their eggs on. Carnivorous blow flies will also make their way inside to feed on the rotting meat.
