Why Do Flies Keep Following Me?
Flies like the smell of humans and they tend to follow you. If you’re covered, they won’t land on you, but they may try to. They also have a penchant for buzzing around your ears and face. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Flies are attracted to certain scent profiles, such as those from your clothing, hair, or skin.
One simple way to get rid of flies is by using repellent. These are often used for mosquitoes, but they are effective for flies as well. Repellants with active ingredients like DEET can mask your scent so that the flies cannot land on you.
Flies have a very strong sense of smell. They’re attracted to human sweat, oils, and dead animals. The moisture they find on us is an ideal food source for flies. You’ll likely see flies circling you while eating outdoors. Flies can even get into your car.
Flies also have a soft mouth, so they won’t bite you. They will suck up your skin secretions. They’re particularly interested in sweat, proteins, carbohydrates, and salts. They’re also interested in dead skin. These insects get nutrition from other sources, including livestock. They don’t view humans as a threat – they see us as a tasty smorgasbord!
Flies are not only annoying, but they can be harmful as well. You need to keep these pests at bay.
