When Do Flies Come Out?
If you live in an area where there is a lot of garbage, you may be wondering, “When do flies come out?” Flies can lay eggs in the garbage can in as little as a week. After they lay their eggs, the larvae will crawl away to pupate in dark areas. If you notice maggots crawling around your trash can, it is a good idea to vacuum them up. If you fail to do so, the maggots will hatch into flies.
You can prevent cluster flies from entering your home by making sure your door screens are in good shape. Cluster flies are very small and can easily fit inside of small spaces. They will seek shelter in a house or a building where they can stay warm. If your home is not properly protected against these flying pests, they may cause damage.
During the day, female flies lay their eggs on vegetation. The eggs are often scattered over the water surface. The larvae then hatch and feed on the organic matter in the water. The pupae grow in size until they become an adult. Adults then ride bubbles of air to the surface and fly away from the breeding site.
Flies can be a problem during the spring and summer months, particularly if you live in an area where there is a compost pile or farmland. The typical housefly lives for fifteen to twenty-five days. They are most active during the day, but can also be a nuisance at night.
