How Long Do Black Flies Expire?
Black flies are small, blood-sucking insects that can wreak havoc on your hair, nose, mouth, and ears. They can even leave a painful wound that takes days to heal. They are only sixteenths of an inch long, but their savage bite can leave a deep welt. They only feed during the day.
A blackfly’s life cycle can vary between 45 and 133 days. It depends on the temperature of the environment. In south Florida, a single species can produce as many as six generations a year. They lay eggs in a spiral pattern on the underside of a leaf. Females lay two to three eggs per instar and the eggs hatch after seven to ten days.
Fruit flies take about eight days to develop. When they reproduce, they lay about 500 eggs. Fruit flies can also enter your home through small openings. Hence, it is a good idea to keep fruit and vegetables out of reach of fruit flies. A rotten fruit attracts fruit flies.
