If the infestation persists, you can try boiling the affected area with water to kill the maggots.
Although you should always cover pet food when you’re not using it, flies will still eat the food that’s left uncovered. It is essential to change pet food regularly and cover it when not in use. When you clean the garbage can, use bleach on the lid and make sure you seal the container. Also, keep compost bins closed to prevent flies from developing larvae.
