Why Are Fleas Only Biting Me?
The first step to dealing with fleas is to identify the source of the problem. The source of the problem may be something as simple as the food you eat or the clothing you wear. Some people have higher carbon dioxide levels than others, which can attract fleas. Certain scents on the body and products applied to the skin can also attract fleas. However, there are certain foods that can prevent fleas from biting you.
Children are also at risk of flea bites. They are especially susceptible to flea bites when they are cuddling with pets or playing outside in shady, sandy areas. Families with dogs often have Fido sleeping next to a young child. Or the dog may jump on the child’s bed. These interactions with animals can cause flea bites to jump off the animal and onto the child.
While the primary host is often animals, fleas are attracted to humans, which means that they’ll bite you more frequently. The reason is not completely understood, but it does appear that fleas prefer humans. There’s no scientific explanation for this behavior, though one common theory is that the chemical composition of the human skin differs from that of a dog or cat.
The first thing you need to do if you suspect fleas is to take a close look at the affected area. The bites are often small and discolored bumps.
