When Does Fleas Die?

The reason that they can survive this long is because their body temperature is higher than the ambient temperature, so they do not die immediately when the temperature drops.
Adult fleas must feed on fresh blood to survive. They can jump from host to host, but they cannot survive for long without a fresh blood meal. However, if they are separated from their host for two weeks, they will die. If you want to get rid of these pesky bugs, try washing the bedding and drying it.
A good way to get rid of fleas is by using an insecticide. There are several different types of these products available. These products are odourless and invisible and they have a good residual effect. After applying the insecticide, you should not disturb the area for ten to fourteen days. This way, the insecticide will have enough time to kill off any adult fleas.
The temperature is another factor that determines whether fleas live or die during the cold months. Fleas thrive in moist and warm conditions and will stay active in spring, summer, and fall. In colder climates, they may also lay eggs to sustain their population. Similarly, fleas that live on raccoons will lay eggs until spring, when they will be able to feed. Moreover, fleas can survive the cold months by hiding in warm animal beds.
