What Does Fleas Feel Like?
Fleas bite humans just as easily as they bite animals. Flea bites are a red bump that may have a halo around it and are typically located near the ankle or legs. Sometimes they may also appear on the armpits or waist. Flea bites are usually itchy.
Fleas reproduce quickly and can be difficult to get rid of unless you use pesticides. There are several common symptoms of fleabites, including itchy, red, and painful skin around the bites. In severe cases, flea bites may cause hives and bacterial infection. You should seek medical care as soon as possible if you feel any of these symptoms.
A flea infestation can make your pet scratch and bite themselves more often than usual. It’s possible to tell if your pet has fleas by finding white or brown flecks on its fur. The flecks are flea dirt and eggs. They may also attach to your clothing when you’re outside.
If you suspect your pet has fleas, you should first examine your pet from nose to tail. If you see any, you should clean it with antiseptic soap or antihistamine medications to reduce the swelling and irritation. If your pet does have fleas, you can also check the ears, groin, tummy, and back of the neck. Fleas usually choose the warmest parts of your pet’s body to nest.
