How Much Flea Spray to Use
When applying flea spray, you must remember to use the correct amount. The amount to apply depends on the area and frequency of use. If your pet spends a lot of time outdoors, you will need to reapply the spray frequently. You can find large spray containers or smaller ones that can be used to treat a specific area.
Most flea sprays will kill ticks as well. You should look for the ingredient list on the label. Fleas are oval-shaped insects that prefer fur on humans. They lay their eggs during the winter and will hatch out of their pupae in the spring. You will notice a reduction in the amount of fleas when you treat your pets with a flea spray.
Another product that you can use is Bifen IT. This granulated insecticide kills adult fleas. You should apply it every two to three months during flea season. To be safe, use this product with an insect growth regulator (IGR). The combination of these two chemicals can shorten the flea life cycle.
Fleas are especially prevalent in the summer, so you should limit the amount of time your pet spends outdoors. Using a flea comb to remove fleas from your pet’s fur is a good idea as well. If you don’t have a comb, you can also use warm water to drown fleas.
