One way to prevent slugs and fleas from infesting your hedgehogs is to keep them from getting into your garden. Hedgehogs love to nest under sheds and can get injured when you move them. To prevent injuries to your hedgehogs, lift the floor carefully and postpone work until they have recovered. You can also use slug pellets. These pellets contain poison, which kills the insects that feed on the hedgehogs. However, you should avoid spraying flea sprays on your hedgehogs.
If you suspect your hedgehog has fleas, you should wash the cage and everything inside. This includes the food bowl, water bottle, hide box, toys, and wheels in the cage. Also, throw away all non-washable bedding and kibble. Then, isolate the animal from your home for at least a week.
