Do Fleas Go in Human Hair?
Fleas are parasitic creatures that live on humans. They do not actually go looking for human hair to lay their eggs in, but they can enter through the hair of an infected animal. This is why a person with a full beard or frizzy hair may be susceptible to flea infestation.
While fleas do not live in human hair, they can bite a person without them knowing. They do not climb human legs or bodies and will not bite your pubic area. Instead, they will feed on bare skin for a short period of time, then leave. They can also get into your hair if you are in contact with an infested pet or are lying on a carpet.
Although most fleas feed on human blood, only one species can live in human hair. This is the Pulex Irritans species. However, many other species can hitchhike in human hair. These insects can travel from dog to dog through human hair and may also infect other animals.
Thankfully, there are several natural remedies that can help kill fleas in the hair. Besides using a good flea shampoo, you can also try baking soda paste or lemon scented dish soap. These natural remedies kill fleas without damaging your hair. When using these remedies, be sure to thoroughly rinse the affected area after each application.
