Do Fleas Come From Outside?
The best way to prevent flea infestations is to keep your home tidy. Vacuuming secondhand furniture and rugs is essential. Fleas prefer cool, moist environments. Avoid sitting in the sun to prevent them from breeding. Fleas usually come from outside, but they can also infest your home from the inside.
Fleas can enter your home from other animals or through human clothing. While fleas do not normally choose humans as their host, they can live inside your house if you wear the wrong clothes or shoes. Fleas can cause your pets itching and rashes. They feed on the blood of their host.
Fleas can also enter your home through open spaces, including bushes and trees. Fleas like to lay their eggs in a shaded spot, such as underneath a deck or porch. They can also infect your dog if it has been lying down in a spot where animals live. Flea larvae cannot survive in sunny conditions.
Adult fleas require a stable temperature and moisture to survive. Temperatures above 95 degrees are often fatal for fleas. Cold temperatures, on the other hand, can sustain fleas for several days. If fleas are unable to find a warm hiding spot, they will succumb to the cold. In addition to this, unfavorable environmental conditions can also delay flea development, allowing them to survive the cold.
