NexGard is a prescription medication for fleas that’s safe and effective, but it is not without side effects. Both medications are safe for puppies, as long as they weigh at least 4 pounds.

While NexGard can be given at any time of year, it is best to adhere to a monthly dosing schedule if you live in an area where fleas are active. It’s also important to remember that NexGard is only effective for dogs and not for cats.
