Are Sand Fleas Dangerous?
Sand fleas are not dangerous to humans, but you should still avoid them. Sand fleas feed on the skin of your legs, hands, and feet. They gradually eat away the top layer of skin, so if you get bitten by a sand flea, it is highly likely that you will see white patches of skin on your body.
Sand fleas are typically small parasites, only a few millimeters long. They have hairy wings and long legs, and their color varies. Sand fleas feed by burrowing into the skin. Their bites may be painful, cause local inflammation, or even result in bacterial infections. In severe cases, they can cause abscesses or lymphangitis.
Sand fleas don’t cause severe skin irritation, but their bites can be very irritating for your dog. Sand flea bites are similar to cat flea bites. The bites are often red and itchy. If you get a sand flea bite, wash the affected area with soap and water.
The most common place to find sand fleas is on a beach. They live on seaweed and other sea vegetation that has washed up. They can be found on humans and dogs. Although they can cause irritation, they don’t generally live in homes. If you do get bitten, make sure you wear long pants and sleeves to protect your skin from their bites. If you’re worried, you can also call a professional pest control service.
