How Old Do Cockroaches Live?

The average lifespan of cockroaches is about six months, but you can expect different lifespans from different species. The Oriental cockroach has a lifespan of two years while the German cockroach has a lifespan of two to four months. It is important to note that most cockroaches do not survive the cold climate. They are not able to reproduce as frequently in a cold climate, and their lifespans reduce dramatically. In addition, roaches do not survive sub-zero temperatures for more than 24 hours.

Cockroaches develop in three different stages. The first is the nymph stage, which lasts for about 24 to 38 days. After this stage, they go through metamorphosis, which involves the shedding of their exoskeleton. This molting process can take six months or even a year. The adult life span of the American cockroach is about one year, but this can vary depending on environmental conditions. A female cockroach will typically lay about 150 eggs during her lifetime.

Among cockroaches, the German cockroach has the highest reproductive rate. It can lay as many as sixteen eggs a day, and each egg takes approximately 28 days to hatch. In addition, a single female can produce four or five oothecae throughout her life. At this rate, a female German cockroach can have as many as 200 offspring in her lifetime.
