How Do Cockroaches Go on Carpet?

Cockroaches are small pests that live in the home and are attracted to a number of surfaces, including carpets and furniture. These pests can carry disease-causing pathogens and aren’t pleasant to look at. Cockroaches are more attracted to food spills and dust on a carpet than a home’s carpet fibers, though they can also eat hair and skin flakes.

Cockroaches may also lay eggs on carpets. Cockroach eggs are rarely visible, and they are typically hidden in dark areas of a home, such as underneath rugs or in tight corners near furniture. Unlike most pests, cockroach eggs are tiny, measuring around eight millimeters (0.3 inches) long. You can use a vacuum cleaner to remove cockroach eggs, but vacuum cleaners don’t kill them.

Cockroaches won’t form a nest under your carpet, but they may lay eggs underneath your carpet if there is a food source under it. Cockroaches can easily travel from one area to another, depending on where they’re hiding. Carpets are also good hiding places for cockroaches because they’re near areas where they can hide out.

If you want to kill cockroaches, try using a chemical solution. Using a solution of borax or baking soda will kill them by suffocating them inside their bodies. This method may work, but only if you can reach the roaches in the deepest parts of the carpet.
