How to Kill Bed Bugs
If you’re dealing with bedbug infestations, you need to know how to kill them. This can be done in several ways. One of the best methods is using high-temperature heat treatments. Heat kills bedbugs by causing them to die in as little as half an hour. Another method is flash freezing.
However, it is important to know that bedbugs don’t like extreme temperatures. Unlike cockroaches, which are sensitive to high temperatures, bed bugs do not like heat. High temperatures affect the rate of water loss, and bedbugs need to feed more frequently in a dry environment.
The temperature of an average home is about 70 degF. However, the temperature inside furniture can be higher. Bedbugs prefer warm temperatures, but not too hot or too cold. Because bedbugs cannot live in extremely warm temperatures, some people choose to avoid heating their rooms. If this doesn’t work, you can always try a steam cleaner, which can get into cracks and kill bedbugs. However, steam cleaners must be set at a high enough temperature to kill the bugs.
Another common source of bedbug infestations is upholstered furniture. Check the seams, folds, and skirts of upholstered furniture. Sofas and recliners are particularly vulnerable.
