Are Ants Bad For Weed Plants?

Among the most common pests in temperate regions are aphids. These insects are attracted to plant leaves and release a sticky substance known as honeydew. They cause considerable damage to plants in a short time.

They also spread plant viruses and bacterial infections. The aphids’ honeydew helps to promote the growth of black mold. They can also cause aphid infestations on marijuana plants.

If you have an ant problem, you can use diatomaceous earth to kill the ants. This can be done by sprinkling the powder on the plants or drenching it on the leaves. It is important to wear a mask while using the powder. It can irritate the respiratory tract, but it will work to kill the ants.

Another way to kill ants is to place cornmeal in the anthills. Cornmeal is a coarse material that is hard for ants to digest.

Besides killing ants, cornmeal also makes a good fertilizer for the soil. Unlike ants, earthworms do not damage your plants. They aerate the soil and break down organic material. They also help to increase water drainage.

If you do not want to use diatomaceous earth, you can also apply a mixture of cinnamon and water. The mixture will taint the taste of the soil, but it will work as a good repellent.

A pyrethrum solution or boric acid can also be used to kill ants. If you do not want to apply these chemicals to your marijuana plants, you can also use neem oil. This oil is full of insecticide compounds and tends to suffocate ants.
