Where Do Wasps Hibernate?

During the winter, wasps hibernate in places where they are sheltered from the cold. This includes inside buildings and homes, as well as in tree trunks and crevices. Some wasps also hibernate outdoors, in burrows or old piles of leaves or debris.

The queen wasp is the heart of the wasp colony. She is the one who hibernates during the winter to ensure her survival. She is also the one who lays eggs to develop the next generation of queens.

Queen wasps hibernate in underground burrows or holes in trees. They also hibernate in buildings, such as sheds or barns. The nests of queen wasps are small cavities filled with wood pulp. They are built using saliva and chewed wood pulp.

The queen wasp lays ten to twenty eggs in her nest cells. When the eggs hatch, the young wasps will continue to build their nest. This process continues until the weather warms and the queen is able to emerge.

Once the queen is out of hibernation, she will look for a sheltered place to establish her new colony. Queen wasps will also look for places that provide food and nectar.

If the queen wasp dies during the winter, it can be a problem. The death of the queen can lead to the death of the colony. The queen wasp puts her life at risk in order to protect the colony. Often, the queen will die before she can begin laying eggs again.
