Wasps V Leicester Tigers on TV
Defending champions Leicester Tigers will begin their title defence against Exeter Chiefs in Round 23 of the Gallagher Premiership. The Tigers were last on the board against Wasps in Round 22 last season. They went on to win a thrilling encounter with eight tries in the second half.
Wasps are in decent form, having won three of their last four matches. They defeated Sale Sharks and Worcester Warriors in their previous two outings. They also have a host of international players in their ranks. They will be hoping to get back on track after last week’s loss to London Irish.
The Tigers will have several internationals in their squad including Julian Montoya, Jasper Wiese and Handre Pollard. They will also have Alfie Barbeary, who has been called up to Eddie Jones’ England squad for the Six Nations. They are in a good position to make the Champions Cup next season.
Leicester Tigers’ fly-half Jed Walsh kicks a penalty to level the scores at the break. He also kicked another successful penalty in the second half. The Tigers then added four more tries in the second half to put their lead into double figures.
Wasps had the first points with a try from centre Olly Hartley. They had the advantage at the lineout, and Hartley won the ball and kicked downfield. He bounced off Will Hurd’s tackle and sent the ball through Joe Browning.
Wasps were penalised for offside. They awarded the penalty, and then a Wasps offload was turned back into a lineout. Wasps went on to win the turnover. They then brought the ball back to try and kick it downfield.
