Why Does Australia Have Big Spiders?
Spiders are members of the arachnid family. They are eight-legged creatures that live in leaf litter and burrows. They prey on insects, but don’t attack humans unless they are threatened. They have a set of large eyes on the front, with two small eyes on the sides. They are not very dangerous, but can cause pain when they bite.
Some people fear spiders. Some believe that spiders are venomous and can attack humans. But, many of the species of Australian spiders aren’t venomous.
There are several spiders that are venomous. These include the Sydney funnel-web spider and the red-back spider. The red-back is extremely venomous, and can kill children. The Sydney funnel-web spider has a reputation for being foul-tempered, which can make it difficult to kill.
The white-tailed spider is found throughout Australia. These spiders prefer to hide during the day, but come out at night to eat food. The spider’s underside is black with a white tip. It’s also known for its agile movements.
In the northern part of Australia, the climate is hot and dry in the summer. However, the cooler months are quite pleasant, as the country is located near the equator. The warmer weather provides a longer growing season.
The huntsman spider is the largest spider by size. It can be as big as a dinner plate. The female is bigger than the male. It’s also known for being a natural insect exterminator.
When a person sees a spider, they usually run away or turn back. Unlike venomous spiders, the bites of Australian spiders are not painful.
