What Spiders Can Kill You?
Many people believe that spiders are harmless, but there are 30 species of spiders known to be venomous. Some of these poisonous spiders are deadly. Those with the most toxic venom can kill you in as little as a few hours.
One of the most common spiders that kills humans is the brown recluse. This type of spider lives in the warmer areas of southern United States. The brown recluse spider bite is known to cause severe skin damage. It also may be accompanied by blisters and necrosis.
In a study of 200 people who were bitten by the recluse, four percent died. Another study found that 15% of those bitten were afflicted with systemic loxoscelism.
These spiders can be found all over the world. They are considered the most dangerous of all spiders.
If you are bitten by a venomous spider, you should wash the affected area with soap and water and elevate the bite. You should then seek medical attention if you experience serious reactions.
While there is no known species that specifically target humans, most spiders can cause a variety of problems. Spiders will only bite when they feel threatened. They will usually bite in defense, but their bites can hurt, and even kill some people.
The most dangerous species of spiders are the redback spider and the funnel-web spider. Both of these species are part of the Latrodectus family.
There are many other species of spiders that can be dangerous to humans, but they are not as common. Other than the redback spider, the black widow and the yellow sac spider, these other species are not very deadly.
