How to Keep Spiders Out of Your Home
When you’re trying to control spiders, one of the first things you’ll need to do is get rid of the spiders themselves. Although removing them will take a lot of time and effort, there are ways to eliminate them without resorting to using chemicals or a spider trap.
One of the easiest ways to keep spiders out of your home is to seal up your openings. This includes your windows, doors, vents, and utility openings. You can do this by filling in gaps with caulk. Or, you can use a weather seal tape.
Adding a spider repellent scent to your house can also help prevent spiders from entering your home. You can also sprinkle conkers or chestnuts along window sills and skirting boards.
Putting down a barrier like a thick layer of wire mesh over your roof can also help keep spiders out. Another option is to install screens over your air vents. The screen should be fitted properly to prevent insects from entering your house.
If you have pets, you’ll want to check their pet flaps and other openings to make sure they’re closed tightly. If they’re not, you can easily create a hole for spiders to enter your home.
Spiders love to hide in dark cracks. They’re especially fond of debris-filled cracks. So if you have a basement, you should ensure it’s clean and dry. You should also make sure that any pipes leading to your house are well-insulated.
