How Strong Are Spider Monkeys?

Spider monkeys are large-bodied creatures, standing at about 14-26 inches tall. Their tails are usually longer than their body size, at about 90 cm. These long, thin limbs are also helpful when it comes to climbing and swinging.
Spider Monkeys live in forest areas, especially in the rainforests. These animals are found in regions of Brazil, Mexico, and the southern tip of the United States. While the majority of them are black, some individuals have red or pink fur.
The length of a Spider Monkey’s tail averages 28-34 inches. Using its tail as a fifth limb, the Spider Monkey is able to swing from tree to tree and to grip onto the branches.
Like other New World Monkeys, the Spider Monkey uses vocalizations to communicate. The spider monkey uses its voice to protect its young, and to bond with other members of the group. It is thought that the social system of the Spider Monkey is matriarchal. Females lead groups of up to thirty-five individuals.
While the Spider Monkey is omnivorous, it depends on fruits in the wild for most of its diet. Occasionally, the creature eats insects. As a result, it is less susceptible to predation.
