How Do Spiders Get Depressed?
Spiders are amazing creatures. They have been around for millions of years, and they have learned to do a lot of things well. In fact, they are one of the oldest animals to have evolved. That means they’ve had lots of time to develop complex neurological systems.
One such system is the brain, which is about the size of a poppy seed. Its function is to process sensory data from the environment and make it relevant to a spider’s needs. A spider’s nerve system is also pretty complex. This allows for quick and efficient movement.
Some arachnophobes have a hard time with spiders. Their fear is usually caused by a bad experience with one. However, there are ways to curb arachnophobia. For instance, exercise can help, and diet can be beneficial. Medications like anti-anxiety drugs aren’t necessarily the solution.
Another study has found that insects can exhibit positive emotions. Apparently, insects are capable of feeling a plethora of different emotions, some of which are similar to human emotions. Researchers have figured out that insects likely have emotions to avoid pain, hunger, and other potential threats.
The study also discovered that insects are capable of learning and using abstract motion. For instance, a psychologist by training created a dot display with different motions.
While the study isn’t conclusive, it does suggest that insects do have a brain and an ability to learn. Other studies have suggested that animals can interpret scrambled motion as living motion.
