Cave Spiders – Can Spiders Fit Through Half Slabs?
Cave spiders are very small, and can fit through half slabs, stair blocks, fence posts, and diagonal gaps. But they’re not always the most obvious way to go.
Cave spiders are actually the smaller of the two basic mobs. They have less health than regular spiders, and a bit less than a block tall.
They don’t have the same abilities, though, including the ability to spawn on all types of rails, spawn on carpets and buttons, or spawn on pressure plates. They also don’t have the ability to drop the same types of items as regular spiders. However, they do have some unique features.
For one, they can hold their breath underwater for 16 seconds. But they can also suffocate you. They have the shortest lifespan of all adult mobs, only having 12 hitpoints. That’s only four more than regular spiders.
They can also climb walls. They can also be crushed by redstone circuits. They can also float down without damage. And they can also be channelled by water canals. But they can’t get to you if you’re not far enough back.
But the best thing about cave spiders is that they can climb vertical surfaces. This means that you won’t have to worry about them falling into your head. In fact, you can even use an Iron Golem to give you some breathing room.
They can even drop some interesting stuff, like Spider Eyes and String. You can use these to build a nifty little gadget.
