Can LED Lights Cause Silverfish?
Silverfish are tiny insects with metallic brown bodies. They measure between 7 and 10 mm long. Often seen in the bathroom or kitchen, silverfish are not harmful. However, they can cause property damage and may leave stains on books and other items.
Silverfish are generally found in damp or dark areas, and they are also attracted to heat. These creatures are nocturnal. Therefore, they usually find their food in the dark.
The good news is that LED lights do not attract silverfish. This is because they emit little to no UV light or heat. Instead, they provide a different color of light.
Because of this, they do not create a plethora of problems like fluorescent lamps. In addition, they do not produce the same amount of heat as the incandescent bulbs.
However, some people have argued that LED lights can actually attract silverfish. Although there is no scientific evidence to support this claim, some people think that it is true.
LEDs do not have the same effect on other bugs. Bugs tend to be attracted to light sources that provide heat. So, if you live in a cold climate, you might be attracting insects to your home with the heat from your lights.
Aside from the light, there are other things you can do to keep silverfish from settling in your house. You can also use an insecticide. Chemical solutions have been proven to be effective, but you should use them cautiously.
