Does Rat Taste Good?
Rat is a gamey meat, so it has a similar taste to other gamey meats. However, it isn’t as sweet as venison or deer. In some cultures, rat is considered a delicacy, while in others, it’s an odd treat. Despite the taste and smell, many researchers say that rats don’t bite humans during their sleep. Therefore, the stories about rats biting people in the night are mostly myths.
Rats aren’t eaten in every country, but they are a traditional part of the diet for many people. In many parts of India, for example, rats are eaten in celebrations and are a good source of protein. Rats are cooked over a fire on sticks, often with vegetables.
Various countries around the world eat rat meat, including China. In Chinese markets, you can purchase raw rat meat or buy it cooked at a restaurant. Some Chinese markets even sell live rats, which you can then kill yourself and cook in your own kitchen. However, the risk of eating raw meat should be kept in mind.
Although rats can be a good source of protein, they are not the healthiest choice for a meal. They contain harmful bacteria and can carry dangerous viruses. Rats can also be a source of leptospirosis, which can cause severe liver damage in humans. Moreover, they carry fleas and ticks that can transmit Lyme disease.
