Rats need between 10 to 12 milliliters of water per 100 grams of body weight daily. This is approximately 0.7 to 2 ounces of water. It’s ideal to feed your pet bottled water through a metal sipper tube that sits low in its cage. Make sure that the water bottle is kept clean and refilled daily.

Rats can eat many types of fruits and vegetables, and some animal proteins. However, fatty foods can be dangerous for rats, and the only way to give them the best nutrition is to avoid feeding them too much. Rats should be fed twice a day, in the morning and the evening. They need to eat a reasonable amount to stay healthy and active.
