Are Rats Good For Anything?
Rats aren’t domesticated and can cause damage if they’re not kept indoors. Black rats are particularly dangerous because they can jump more than 70cm in the air and climb walls. They are also notorious for getting on your face. They’re usually nocturnal, but some nightclubs have found that rat problems can also occur during the daytime. Rats communicate with each other through pheromones and can be aggressive if cornered.
Rats are highly intelligent rodents. They have excellent memory and can learn to perform complex tasks. Their ears are much more sensitive than ours, so they can hear things we can’t hear. They can even learn to do tricks, such as walk a tightrope, and solve puzzles. In addition to being highly intelligent, rats make great pets if they’re properly cared for.
The best way to get rid of a rat problem is to eliminate the source of their problem. Rats are not afraid of humans, but they fear other predators, such as dogs and cats that hunt rodents. Fortunately, there’s a simple solution to your rat problem: peppermint oil. Putting peppermint oil on a cotton ball and leaving it in a rat-infested area will repel the rat. Another natural repellent for rats is mothballs.
Rats are social and can breed quickly. If you notice baby rats, you can usually identify the nest. They can also be attracted by odors from birdfeeders, pet waste, and unharvested nuts and fruit.
