Fortunately, there’s a simple solution to your rat problem: peppermint oil. Putting peppermint oil on a cotton ball and leaving it in a rat-infested area will repel the rat. Another natural repellent for rats is mothballs.
Rats are social and can breed quickly. If you notice baby rats, you can usually identify the nest. They can also be attracted by odors from birdfeeders, pet waste, and unharvested nuts and fruit.
