What Do Flies Hate?
If you have a garden, there are several plants that can keep flies away. For example, tansy, a plant that contains a poisonous chemical called thujone, is effective at repelling flies and other pests. Its leaves and flowers contain a strong odor that flies hate. You can also try the Venus flytrap, a plant with stiff hairs that attracts and traps insects. This plant is a natural repellent for flies, but it does not work well on humans.
Cinnamon is another natural repellent. The smell of cinnamon is very strong and flies cannot stand its scent. To use this repellent, place some cinnamon around your home or place it in a diffuser. You can also use scented candles to repel flies. Another natural deterrent is basil. Basil’s distinctive flavor comes from the fragrant oil in its leaves.
Another natural repellent that repels flies is lemon juice. Lemons, as well as vinegar, are great for repelling flies. Lemons are great, too, as they are natural odors. Also, boiled vinegar is a great way to repel flies.
Essential oils are another natural repellent. Many essential oils contain strong scents that repel flies. Fresh rosemary and lavender are both effective.
