How Long Do Flies Live Outside?
Flies have a short life cycle. Most species of flies live from 15 to 25 days, though some can live up to two months. They can survive for two to three days without food, but their lifespan is greatly extended if they are provided with suitable food. In addition, they live longer in cooler temperatures. During their life cycle, flies also reproduce rapidly. Female flies lay eggs in decaying matter or soil, where the larvae feed until they pupate. The mature flies will mate within two or three days after they emerge.
Typically, outside flies feed on decaying organic materials and animal feces. They are drawn to places where they can lay their eggs, which include compost piles, farms, and trash bins. Keeping these areas clean can help reduce the number of flies that will infest your home.
When flies reach maturity, they will go through three stages. They will begin to multiply in just a few days. During this time, they will go through mating and courtship. The male fly will fertilize the eggs produced by the female. The whole process can take anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours. After this, the female will find a warm, moist place where she can lay her eggs.
The average lifespan of a fly varies, but most species live between 15 and 25 days. They can also live for a few months. The length of their life depends on the temperature and availability of food.
