Why Do Fleas Stay on Furniture?
If you own a pet, you may be wondering why fleas stay on furniture. They are tiny parasites that live in cracks and crevices of furniture. They can also be found on bedding and mattresses. The best way to get rid of fleas is by cleaning your furniture on a regular basis. You can also make a homemade flea spray by mixing four liters of vinegar with two liters of water and 500 ml of lemon juice or witch hazel. This mixture should be applied to the furniture and bedding to eliminate fleas.
Despite being able to stay on furniture for up to two weeks without a host, fleas are capable of reproducing rapidly. Their eggs and larvae can live for months without a host, and can survive for several months on a couch or other furniture. Even if they die from lack of food, water, or shelter, they can still survive for weeks on furniture.
Although fleas can live in clothing, they do not stay on them after feeding on a human. They prefer to bite the skin on our feet and ankles and live in these areas for a day or two before they jump off. Once they have gotten enough blood to survive, they jump off and seek another host.
