Why Do Fleas Keep Biting My Feet?
If you have fleas, one of the first places they will bite is on your feet or ankles. Their bites look like little pictures of your foot. Often they are not noticed immediately, but once you notice them, they can be very itchy and irritating. You can avoid flea bites by wearing socks and long pants. However, you cannot avoid fleas altogether, and they may still find a way to get under your trousers and bite your leg.
Fleas are blood-feeding insects. They need to feed on blood to survive, and humans are an excellent source of it. However, if you’re not willing to share your blood, the fleas will seek blood elsewhere. As humans are a plentiful source of blood, it makes sense for them to target the feet for their blood meal.
To treat flea bites, you should first use an insect repellent. Fleas can transmit the Yersinia pestis bacterium, which is responsible for the plague. This bacterium can be easily spread through a human’s skin. Fortunately, you can use insect repellents that are registered by the Environmental Protection Agency.
Another effective natural remedy is honey. Honey contains enzymes which will relieve itching. It is also anti-inflammatory and can be applied to a flea bite to reduce its inflammation and relieve itching.
