Fleas are small, wingless insects that live in soft furnishings and coats of dogs. Female adult fleas lay up to 500 eggs a day. The eggs hatch into larvae, which burrow into carpets, soft furnishings, and small crevices. Pupae can live in these places for two years, and will eventually emerge as an adult flea once they find a suitable host.
