Dawn Kills Fleas
Dawn detergent is one of the best ways to kill fleas on your pets. It is made with surfactants, which break the surface tension of water and force fleas to sink to the bottom. This process is effective against most types of fleas, although it won’t get rid of all fleas on your pets. The chemical ingredients found in Dawn help the fleas die by compromising their exoskeletons, which are made of a waxy coating and little combs.
When applying Dawn on your pet, make sure to use it on every part of their body, including their head. Fleas often migrate to these areas, including the eyes and under the ears. The Dawn solution is best applied in the morning and evening, when the fleas are less active.
Dawn is a great option for flea control on your pet, but there are several disadvantages to this product. Side effects include excessive thirst and dehydration, excessive panting, and pink skin. It is important to consult your veterinarian before using Dawn on your dog. Also, this product is not a complete flea treatment, so it is best to use it as a last resort.
While Dawn kills adult fleas, it doesn’t prevent their population from starting again. If the flea population is not controlled, it will start to multiply and become uncontrollable very quickly. Each day, adult fleas lay up to 50 eggs. About 10 percent of these eggs will hatch, and the majority of the new larvae are female.
