Can Fleas Infest Your Bed?
If you have pets, you may be worried that you have fleas in your bed. Although fleas are not very noticeable, they do exist and are present in many places. The most common places where fleas can be found are your mattress and bedding. These areas can contain eggs and live fleas.
The best way to prevent fleas from infesting your bed is to prevent them from living in the house. Fleas live on humans and animals and can easily jump from one place to another. To prevent them from entering your home, wash your bedding and other areas regularly. Also, make sure you inspect your windows and fix any holes. In addition, make sure that you eliminate the source of food for rats and other wild animals in your home.
In addition to the mattress, fleas can also infest your clothes. They can get onto your clothing when you walk through overgrown vegetation. These fleas will latch onto your clothes below your waist region. They may then hitchhike to your bed through your socks or trousers.
If you suspect you have fleas in your bed, try steam cleaning. A steam cleaner can kill flea larvae on hard surfaces such as bed frames, as well as in the bed itself. However, be sure to use the steam cleaner carefully and hold the hose for a longer period of time if you plan to spray it on the seams or cracks of your bed frame.
