Can Fleas Die in the Dryer?

The high temperature will kill fleas and their eggs. This method is especially useful if you have pet bedding, including blankets, sheets, and towels.
Using hot water and detergent on your clothes should kill fleas and their eggs. However, if you’re worried about flea eggs, you can also use a commercial flea spray that contains boric acid. Boric acid is known to kill a wide range of insects, including fleas.
Fleas have four life stages. Fleas are half an inch to one sixth inch long, with a slender body and no wings. Fleas lay their eggs in the fur of an animal, often in carpet or clothing. The eggs hatch in a few days and develop into flea larvae. These larvae are very hard to remove because they are very small and will get caught in the fibers of the clothing.
Fleas cannot survive in the dryer due to the high temperature. Normally, they would drown and fall down the drain. But the turbulence in the dryer will dislodge most of them and leave them vulnerable. But some fleas are able to survive under the most extreme conditions and dehydration. Even the best detergents cannot kill all fleas.
