In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you may notice that some villagers have fleas. When this happens, you may notice a black dot around the villager and a jumping sound. You may also hear the villagers saying a strange word related to itching and scratching.

Fleas can be removed from villagers by catching them. The process is relatively easy. First, you need to grab a bug net. Once you have the bug net ready, approach the villager. While holding A, move forward a bit and swing your net. When you are able to catch fleas, you can then sell them for Blathers.

The fleas you catch may be harmless or can chase you. You will notice that they have fleas when they come to your village. Fleas can also make you lose your balance. Try to avoid bumping into the animal that has the fleas. This way, you will not have to worry about losing your balance.

You should know that fleas are active during the spring, summer and early fall, so it is important to be vigilant about this. But, if you are unsure about the season, try to talk to all the villagers.
